Faith-Based Outreach

Strengthening churches by ministering to caregivers within the congregation

Caregiving has become one of the most significant — and least addressed — challenges facing families today. Within every church, a substantial portion of congregants are caring for children with special needs, aging parents, spouses or life partners, military veterans, or other disabled loved ones.

Reach For Me partners with churches in a pilot initiative designed to support caregivers through faith-centered material, practical guidance, and community connection. This outreach helps churches meet caregivers where they are — spiritually, emotionally, and practically — during one of the most demanding seasons of life.

By caring for the caregiver, churches strengthen families, deepen community, and reinforce their mission of compassion and service.

HOW IT WORKS

Caregiver Summits are held at various locations around the country. Caregivers may stay at the host hotel, or other nearby hotels of their choice.

This faith-based outreach initiative is designed to be implemented in collaboration with church leadership and adapted to the culture, size, and needs of each congregation.

The program introduces caregivers to a structured, step-by-step process — called The Personal Caregiver Roadmap — that helps individuals assess and navigate the challenges they are facing while strengthening faith, resilience, and outlook.

Churches participating in the pilot begin by exploring caregiver needs within their congregation, followed by thoughtful implementation of caregiver-centric resources and facilitated gatherings.

This is not a one-size-fits-all program. It is a guided ministry approach designed to grow organically within each church community.

Why Caregivers Need This Ministry

Caregivers represent one of the largest underserved populations within churches today.

  • Approximately 25% of church members are caregivers, with another 25% expected to become caregivers in the next several years

  • Caregivers are significantly more likely to experience stress, anxiety, depression, and emotional fatigue

  • Many caregivers quietly struggle while continuing to serve their families, workplaces, and churches

Jesus modeled compassion for those who were suffering. He met people in their hardest moments and walked with them through pain, uncertainty, and loss. In today’s world, caregiving has become a modern expression of that suffering — and an opportunity for the church to lead.

This initiative equips churches to respond with intentional care, faith-centered guidance, and practical support for caregivers in their midst.
